OAKLAND — A woman was critically injured Monday morning when her car crashed into a center divider on Highway 24 near the Caldecott Tunnel, authorities said.
No other information about the woman was released.
The crash happened about 7:37 a.m. Monday in the eastbound lanes of Highway 24 west of Old Tunnel Road, the California Highway Patrol said.
The woman’s car, a Nissan Altima, crashed against the center divider wall, leaving her unconscious.
A vehicle window had to be broken to gain entry so she could be extricated and medically treated, authorities said. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
The crash caused the two eastbound lanes closest to the divider to be shut down for almost 45 minutes.
