Commercial burglary: Between Sept. 16 and 18, 2023, someone entered a storage unit at Public Storage on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road and stole a bicycle and clothes valued at approximately $5,500.
Residential burglary: Between July 25 and 27, someone entered a residence that was tented for fumigation in the 18000 block of Baylor Avenue by cutting the tent and then entering through an open window. The suspect(s) stole an unknown amount of cash and jewelry.
Criminal threats: At 5:08 p.m., deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 19000 block of Braemar Drive. An investigation revealed the suspect made criminal threats toward the victim before fleeing the scene.
July 29
Possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless evading, delay/resist peace officer, unlicensed driver: At 12:31 a.m., deputies responded to an automated license plate reader notification for a stolen vehicle at Saratoga Avenue and Kosich Drive. An investigation revealed the vehicle was previously stolen from San Jose and was still outstanding. The vehicle was located a short time later, and deputies attempted to stop it, but the driver recklessly evaded until crashing. The suspect then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot but was ultimately detained a short time later. Further investigation revealed the suspect did not have a valid driver’s license and violated six felony probation grants. The suspect was arrested and booked into main jail.

Theft by false pretenses: A Saratoga resident reported that someone contacted them on a messaging platform, posed as a cryptocurrency investor and ultimately convinced the victim to invest money in a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme for a total loss of about $30,000.

Theft by false pretenses, identity theft: A Saratoga resident reported that someone contacted them through an encrypted messaging application, posed as a representative with a foreign consulate, claimed the victim was involved in a criminal money laundering scheme, and ultimately convinced the victim to wire money to international accounts to clear the matter for a total loss of about $1.2 million.
