OAKLEY – Gunfire erupted Friday morning in an Oakley residential neighborhood, injuring a 40-year-old man and damaging two homes, authorities said.
The shooting happened around 10:30 a.m. in the 4000 block of Macadamia Lane, according to the Oakley Police Department. Officers arrived to find the man suffering from a gunshot wound to his back at a gas station at Main Street and Cypress Road.
Medical personnel took the man to an area hospital. Police said he is expected to recover.
While searching the crime scene, officers discovered two homes had been hit by gunfire.
At one home, a bullet penetrated a chimney, and at the other, at least three bullets went through a sliding glass door, police said, adding that a woman inside suffered a minor cut from broken glass.
Police did not announce any arrests Friday.
Detectives are looking into any relationships between the victim and the suspect, police said.
“This investigation is our top priority right now and the safety of the Oakley community is of paramount importance to us,” Oakley police Chief Paul Beard said in a statement. “We are utilizing all of our resources to identify a suspect in this case.”
