Elon Musk offers futurist concepts at his Tesla Diner, movie theater and supercharge station in West Hollywood – The Mercury News

A Tesla charger station opened on July 21 in West Hollywood equipped with an 80-stall supercharge station, a retro-futuristic American food diner, and a drive-in movie theater — all of it owned by Elon Musk. According to Tesla, the classic American diner and drive-in experience is “all wrapped up into one. With retro-futuristic design influences, this location offers Tesla and non-Tesla drivers alike with charging access along the historic Route 66 highway.”

Despite all the futurist concepts, the two-story restaurant known as Tesla Diner, offers a typical menu of burgers, hot dogs and apple pie.

The property on the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Orange Drive has trees and other greenery, but most of the shade is thanks to solar canopies in the diner’s west charging lot, which Tesla says will reduce the site’s carbon emissions by about 26.6 million pounds of CO2 per year.

For some fans of the diner, the real attraction is its unusual futurist decor. The two-story flying saucer-shaped restaurant has the feel of a 1950s diner with a futurist aesthetic that is not unlike Tesla’s Cybertruck.
