Compared to thousands of others across the country, Solano County’s local hospitals ranked moderately well, with Kaiser Permanente-Vallejo earning a national ranking in rehabilitation services.
U.S. News & World Report’s 2025-2026 Best Hospitals annual report evaluated approximately 4,500 hospitals, analyzing performance for 15 specialty care areas and 22 procedures and conditions. The “high performing” designation honors hospitals that deliver high-quality care when treating complex medical conditions.
All 21 Kaiser Permanente Northern California hospitals were ranked as “high-performing” – or among the top 30% of hospitals in the nation – for at least one of the measures evaluated.
Kaiser Vallejo was ranked 38th in the nation for rehab services. In addition it was ranked “high performing” in one specialty: orthopedics. It earned “high performing” ranks in adult procedures or conditions colon cancer surgery, heart attack treatment, hip fracture treatment and pneumonia treatment.
Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vacaville also earned a “high performing” ranking for hip fracture care.

NorthBay Medical Center, which last year earned high performing ranks in eight procedures and conditions, saw four high performing rankings this year — heart failure treatment, stroke treatment, maternity care (uncomplicated pregnancy), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) treatment. The survey also ranked NorthBay high for how well Medicaid patients were represented in the population treated by the hospitals.
