4 year old boy killed, 6 year old girl injured in Burlingame crash

BURLINGAME — A driver killed a four-year-old boy and injured a six-year-old girl in a collision in Burlingame Friday, police said.

A 19-year-old woman from San Mateo driving a sedan struck the two children on a sidewalk in downtown Burlingame at about 6:25 p.m. on Friday night in front of a restaurant in the 1200 block of Donnelly Avenue, Burlingame police said in a news release Friday.

The boy “sustained major injuries” and died at the scene, police said. The girl was transported a local hospital for treatment on injuries sustained in the collision, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said. It is unclear if she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the time of the crash.

Burlingame police did not immediately respond to a request for comment Saturday.
